For faster service, 1-866-262-9881 or FAX @ (858) 467-9088 call before or after ACCESS business hours.

Before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m.

Look through the listing below for health care or family planning services in San Diego County.

In an EMERGENCY, refer to the EMERGENCY section of this directory or your telephone book, for a listing of emergency numbers.

If the emergency is a minor medical emergency, (such as cuts, infections, broken bones, cold flu, etc.) and you're not on Medi-Cal, you may wish to go to an urgent care center rather than an emergency room at a hospital. In many cases, it is less expensive. The urgent care centers have x-ray equipment and can handle most minor emergencies. Check their hours of business to see when they are open and ask about their fees.

Health Care for People with Low Incomes

County Medical Services (CMS)(760) 471-9660

CMS helps uninsured adult county residents get medical care. It is managed by the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency. While CMS helps people get medical care, it is not a health insurance program such as Medi-Cal and Healthy Families.

Most health problems are covered by CMS. Medical services NOT covered by CMS:

  • Routine physical exams and preventative care
  • Routine dental and vision care
  • Pregnancy/family planning
  • Visits to the emergency room for follow-up and prescription refills
  • Treatment of mental health, alcohol and drug problems

Community Health Centers throughout the County can evaluate your medical condition and give you information about a variety of programs that can help you get the medical care you need.
