Fostering Memories is a collaborative organization of professional staff, volunteer photographers and volunteer scrapbookers who care about preserving the childhood memories of foster youth.

Just In Time for foster youth is a non-profit organization initially founded by a group of volunteers who saw the needs of transitioning foster youth and organized a way to collect donations and household items to help them set up their first apartments.  We also raise money to help with specific needs such as food cards and emergency situations.

My Girlfriend's Closet collects quality, gently used clothing from teen girls in the greater San Diego area who can afford quality clothing, and distributes it to teen girls who are homeless, in foster care or otherwise economically disadvantaged.

The Rowell Foster Childern's Positive Plan (RFCPP) is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 by Victoria Rowell. For over a decade RFCPP has provided the means for foster children to fulfill thier limitless potential through involovement in fine arts, sports, financial literacy, and employment and educational opportunities.

San Diego County  Foster Youth Mentor Program

Foster youth ages 6-18 need consistent, stable adult role models to guide them to a successful life path.  Numerous studies show mentoring significantly reduces youth's drug and alchol use, improves school outcomes, and decreases adolescent violence.

Foster Youth Mentors Help in the Following Ways:

  • Provide a stable, consistent and genuine friendship.
  • Participate in a variety of social outings and activities.
  • Assist with homework, the completion of a GED, high school diploma or perhaps a college degree.

Minimum Requirements for a Youth Mentor

  • A one year commitment to a child - Minimum contact of 2 hours per week.
  • Be at least 18 years of age - Pass criminal clearances.
  • Complete monthly activity reports - Adhere to the directives of the child's social worker.
    Ability to interact and communicate clearly with professionals.
    Provide current CA Drivers License - Provide proof of auto insurance
